Leading fantasy film historians Wayne Kinsey (Hammer Films – the Bray Studios Years, TheElstree Studios Years, A Life in Pictures, the Unsung Heroes and On Location) and Tom Johnson (Hammer Films – an Exhaustive Filmography, Peter Cushing – the Gentle Man of Horror and his 91 Films and The Films of Oliver Reed) come together with Joyce Broughton (Cushing’s secretary and aide for over 35 years) to present the definitive pictorial history to Peter Cushing. A perfectionist in his work and a talented artist in every sense of the word with a great sense of humour and always a boy at heart, 26 May 2013 would have been the 100th birthday of this much loved actor. Join us as we celebrate his centenary with this unique pictorial book packed with Cushing memorabilia that showcases his private and professional life:
Watercolor paintings
Sketches
Bird drawings
Tudor Tea Room Profiles
Costume designs
Humorous cartoons drawn for his wife
Painted scarf and jewelry designs
Model theatre sets
Letters
Annotated script pages
Notations for photographs written by Peter Cushing
Candid photographs
Material from the estate of Roy Ward Baker
Film props
Alternate script for Captain Clegg
Rare material from two unfilmed Hammer projects to have starred Cushing; Kali – Devil Bride of Dracula and The Savage Jackboot.
Rare film posters
Never before has so much visual Cushing memorabilia been gathered into a single book (from collectors and the collection of Joyce Broughton) and, with personal insights from Joyce herself, this will be a loving tribute to ‘the gentleman of horror’. We also offer a special DVD (£6) containing additional rare Cushing memorabilia from the collection of Wayne Kinsey that we couldn’t fit into the book (none of the material donated by Joyce Broughton or collectors); the whole of Cushing’s typed alternate script for Captain Clegg dated July, 1961, the whole of a handwritten manuscript which forms part of a script for a further Clegg adventure dated 1972, a whole volume of charming Tudor Tea Room profiles and more annotated pages from his scripts for Hitler’s Son and Touch of the Sun.

Due to covid-19, airmail costs to outside europe from UK has suddenly escalated to extortionate rates due to fewer planes. We value our overseas customers and do not want to demand stupid airmail prices from them, when their transit can still be delayed. We are currently removing airmail as an option until the situation relaxes. Surface mail takes up to 6 weeks (currently possibly longer) but this cost has remained the same. The books are posted in sturdy book boxes and many of our customers use this cheaper option already.
